I’m Jessica Mele, and I have been a full time Internet Marketer for over a decade now. Are you curious as to how I got here?
My History
I graduated college with both a bachelors and masters degree in Computer Engineering. But like a lot of other people, I had no idea what I wanted to do once I graduated and had to live in the real world.
I got a well paying job as a programmer, but it turns out that I didn’t really enjoy programming! In fact, I had no idea what I really wanted to do. I just knew what I didn’t want to do.
I wasn’t willing to trade my time for money. I knew that much. Working for someone else meant that I had to sit in a cubicle for 8+ hours a day, doing what I was told to do, even if I finished my work and there was nothing to do, or if I wanted to be there or not. I didn’t even have much of a say on what I worked on!
Of course, that’s the definition of most jobs, so I’m sure you’re not surprised that’s how mine was.
Plus, I loved taking all my vacation time off to actually go on vacations. Most of the people around me not only didn’t go on vacations, they didn’t even take their vacation time, and actually looked down on me for going away so often. (I honestly didn’t even think 2 vacations a year was all that crazy!)
This made me realize that this was not the place for me, and that I belonged on my own.
Then I made a really bad decision.
Instead of starting my business, and waiting to quit my job until AFTER I was successful, I quit first!
Don’t get me wrong, I did have a decent size savings, but it was a really, really bad idea, and I would not recommend that anyone else do this.
I spent quite a few years working really long hours each and every day, and being very stressed out trying to make my business successful.
But eventually, I started learning what worked, and what didn’t. I was able to start building up my business.
It has taken me a really long time to get to where I am today, and I still hope to grow my business more, and make it even more successful.
Why Workism?
As I mentioned above, I know what it’s like to work on someone else’s terms. I had a great paying job, but couldn’t stand it. I used to come home from work on Friday, and be stressed that night about having to go back to work on Monday.
I hated that I wasn’t in control of how I spent my time.
I remember thinking that it was so dumb that I had to sit there for 8 hours every single day, when I could get the work done in less than that.
This is when I realized that I wanted to work for myself.
I wanted to work on my own terms, and now I want to help you be able to work on your own terms as well. Your terms may be quite different from mine, but that’s the whole point. You should be able to work on whatever your terms are!
What I’m Good at (and Enjoy)
It’s amazing how when we’re kids and we decide what we want to be, that sometimes THAT is what we should be doing today. When I was really young, I said, “I want to be a writer”.
But I knew I wrote with a conversational style, and wasn’t ever interested in writing a book of fiction, or anything serious. So I always assumed that it would never happen.
But here I am all these years later, basically earning money because of my writing.
While I know I’m not great at it, I know I’m able to get my point across, and more importantly, love doing it.
Give me an empty notepad, and I will be happy to fill it up. Especially about something I’m passionate about! One thing that I am most passionate about is helping others make money online.
Is This You?
I’ve seen over and over again people who are absolutely miserable at their jobs…but are afraid to leave it because working on their own sounds terrifying.
I’ve seen many people have to worry about the bills each month, when really, if they were willing to put in just a few hours of work a week (while their children were napping or at school, or after a long day at work), would be able to make at least a few extra hundred dollars a month so that they could still buy what they needed to.
I don’t like seeing people live from paycheck to paycheck when they just don’t have to.
I also don’t like seeing people who are stuck at a job they hate. You spend so many of your waking hours working…you might as well be doing something you love!
So if you’re one of those people, I’m here to help you.
Workism will help you work on your own terms, whatever they may be.
